E-Learning means "Electronic Learning". It refers to a wide range of applications and processes, designed to provide guidance and/or deliver information to students, faculties, or employees of the companies through electronic means. The quality of the electronic training depends primarily on the content and its delivery. It also provides facility to download study materials from various universities. This way Internet acts as a global library for us.
The study material can contain various types of media, like audio, text, virtual environments, video, and animation. Users have the advantage of learning in a three-dimensional environment that provides a more interactive and interesting experience. E-Learning can be imolemented using an Internet connection, a network, an intranet, or a storage disk.
All over the world, various universities like Harvard, MIT and even IIT's have launched programs focused on offering classes online for free. In India, GyanDarshan, which is a satellite-based educational channel, offers educational programmers for a wide range of users, such aa school kids, college and university students, homemakers etc.
Apart from Open and Distance Learning, mobile learning, e-learning, Open Education Resource (OER), Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), etc., are being accepted as alternative approachers or methods.
Various websites that are used for e-learning are Coursera, edx, National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), etc.
