∴ log_axy = m + n =log_ax + log_ay

(ii.) The Quotient Rule

When we divide with the same base, we subract exponents.

i.e;the quotient rule

Theroem:(Quotient Rule) let a,x and y be positive real numbers where a ≠ 1

Then log_a x/y = log _ay

i.e. the logarithm of a quotient is the difference of the logarithms of the two numbers taken in the same order.
